The Brief

The clients were keen swimmers but did not have the space required for a full-size traditional swimming pool. The brief was to create a dedicated swimming space that would enable regular training at home without compromising the property's or garden's layout. A resistance pool was the ideal solution, provided the space could be designed and built correctly around it.

The Work

We constructed a new extension adjoining both the existing garage and the main house, creating a purpose-built area to accommodate the resistance pool. Additional height was built into the extension to accommodate a vaulted ceiling, giving the space a more open, generous feel.

Externally, we carried out all associated works to ensure the extension blended naturally into the garden and surrounding property. Careful attention was paid to proportions and materials so the new structure feels as though it has always been part of the house. The slate roof was chosen to remain in keeping with neighbouring properties, with particular note taken of the raised roof height within the extension.

The Result

The finished space provides a practical, well-proportioned swimming area that perfectly meets the clients’ needs. One detail we are especially proud of is the custom-cut bullnose angles around the pool edge, which add a high-quality, bespoke finish to the space.

This was our first resistance pool project of this type, and we are incredibly proud of the final result. The overall aesthetic is clean, considered and purposeful, delivering a unique feature that fits seamlessly with the home.
