The Brief
An existing customer approached us with a plot of land they had recently purchased with an old blacksmith building on. The customer had drawings to transform the derelict building into a 1 bedroom dwelling which we priced. This was accepted and works began within the next 2 months.
The Work
The work itself involved the complete levelling of the site itself assisted by the customer who is a bit ''handy on the digger''. The 4 original walls were maintained and the original rotten roof removed. We repitched the roof as hand cut not trusses, whilst doing the roof we cut in a velux to the rear for extra light.
The interior had a mezzanine 1st floor installed and a staircase up to form a bedroom. We used the low levels and spare space to the side of the stairs to create cupboards and eaves access for storage. The ground floor, although small, was altered to house a bathroom, kitchen, washing machine and cloak cupboards.
The Result
The customers' final choice on finishes made a real difference to the small property and we used our lorry to crane in a phone box for an authentic British cottage feel. A very enjoyable job for all involved start to finish.
